A power outage was affecting about 3,500 customers — including parts of the University of Utah campus and Research Park — on Thursday morning.

A Rocky Mountain Power spokesman said the outage began at 11:12 a.m., and that it was initially described as a "transmission problem" at the Ft. Douglas sub-station.

Crews were on the job, and the company gave an estimate of 3:30 p.m. for restoration of power.
